Crystal Palace have admitted defeat in their efforts to re-sign Mamadou Sakho on a permanent basis and have now focussed their attentions on alternative centre-back targets.
French source L’Equipe report that the Eagles have begun formal negotiations with Adil Rami, with an offer expected to be submitted to Sevilla and Rami imminently.
Rami is a player with a great deal of Champions League and international experience during his time with Lille, AC Milan, Valencia and now Sevilla nd would certainly be a welcome addition to the Palace ranks.
Capped 33 times by France, Rami also has offers on the table from Marseille and Besiktas as Sevilla are ready to offload him.
Under contract until 2019, the 31-year-old wants to impress next season in order to stake his claim for a place in the France World Cup squad next summer and is open to a move if it’s right for him.
Palace are in discussions with Rami and will try and convince him that a move to Selhurst Park is the best next move for him.
