Crystal Palace have been handed a boost in his pursuit of Ajax defender after it was reported by football.london that the 21-year-old will not join up with Ajax for their pre-season training camp in Austria.
The right-back was linked with a move to Selhurst Park almost immediately after Frank De Boer was confirmed as the club’s new manager last week and a move to London is now appearing more likely.
De Boer is keen to strengthen the Palace defence this summer and is also being linked with a move for Tete’s defensive partner at Ajax, Joel Veltman.
Tete has just one-year left on his contract with the Dutch club and is therefore available at a cut-down price.
Ajax had already accepted a £3million bid from Galatasaray for the player but Tete decided against a move to Turkey. Lyon are also said to be interested in the player.
Tete made 23 appearances in all competitions last season as he helped guide Ajax to the Europa Lague Final in Stockholm where they lost to Manchester United.
