The Eagles will want to make sure a potential relegation scrap doesn’t happen again, with new man Frank De Boer in charge now.
In January, Palace managed to capture Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho on loan and this transfer certainly ensured they weren’t heading towards the Championship.
Having put in a number of stand out performances, Sakho was wanted permanently this summer but already Steve Parish has said re-signing Sakho will “not work out” and that Palace will have other targets to pursue an interest in. Liverpool were demanding £30m should the Frenchman leave Anfield and that was simply too expensive for Crystal Palace.
The summer will be used to make sure a top centre-back replacement is found to fill the big hole left by the 27-year-old.
