Stoke have now joined the race along side Crystal Palace, Newcastle and Huddersfield for the signature of Benfica’s Andre Carrillo.
According to Stoke Sentinel, the Potters are looking to replace the gap left by Marko Arnautovic, who left for West Ham, with the 26-year-old Peru man. The winger bagged three goals and three assists last time out for the Portuguese champions but generally found it hard to cement a starting line-up place.
Stoke City were also linked with Carrillo two years ago but a deal never materialised and he stayed in Portugal and moved from Sporting Lisbon to rivals Benfica on a free transfer.
Both Premier League sides have money to spend however Frank De Boer will look to ensure his first season as manager of Palace is a success, Carrillo is an exciting player blessed with pace and tricky skills that could prove a good deal at £6m.
The Eagles have been active in the summer market already bringing in Ruben Loftus-Cheek on-loan from Champions Chelsea, as well as Ajax defender Jairo Riedewald, an exciting young prospect.
If they manage to beat off tough competition in the form of Stoke City, Carrillo will slot in nicely for Palace looking to secure a better finish than last season’s nervy 14th.
