Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala has refused an offer from Crystal Palace, according to the Mirror’s David Anderson.

The Eagles had submitted a bid in the region of £23 million for the French centre-back, which City accepted, however the player has rejected the contract offer.

Mangala, who is also being used as bait in Manchester City’s attempt to sign Jonny Evans from West Brom, appears to be surplus to requirements at the Etihad, with Pep Guardiola keen to sell.
The 26-year-old’s departure would free up space for Guardiola to bring in West Brom skipper Evans, however with Mangala yet to agree terms with anyone, City’s chances of signing Evans are looking more and more unlikely.
Palace, who have been priced out of a bid for top target Mamadou Sakho, still are in the market for a centre-back, and they see Mangala as a player who can bolster their defensive ranks, as they look to tighten up at the back.
