Crystal Palace recorded a much needed win at Selhurst Park after defeating Huddersfield 1-0 with Bakary Sako scoring his first competitive goal for two years.
The two sides faced each other on the opening day of the new season, when Huddersfield pulled off a surprise 3-0 win to record their first ever Premier League victory in emphatic fashion.
This time, however, it was the Eagles’ turn to take the win after Sako turned in Andros Townsend’s corner.
It was a much improved performance from the South London side, who made wholesale changes and the game will be remembered for the return of Pape Souaré and Mamadou Sakho.
The £26 million pound signing was brilliant in the heart of defence making some crucial tackles and interceptions.
Souare was equally assured, replacing Jeffrey Schlupp in the second half to a rapturous reception from the Selhurst faithful.
