Pape Soare tried to ease the disappointment of a 4-1 League Cup defeat by handing his shirt to one supporter in an attempt to apologise for Palace’s efforts on the pitch. However, the fan in question decided to throw the shirt back in anger, according to The Telegraph.
A humiliating evening for Pape Souare and his Crystal Palace team-mates at Ashton Gate was made even worse at the final whistle following the reaction of one irate visiting supporter. Souare was a second-half substitute during Palace’s 4-1 League Cup defeat to Championship side Bristol City.
Souare has been out of action for a year following a serious car crash, and has recently returned to action. However, the Palace player could understand supporters’ frustrations in a tweet he posted last night which said:
Disappointing night, emotions were high. I understand the frustration. All love.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson weighed in on the unfortunate situation, underlining after the match that he hoped Souare would not take the incident to heart following his recovery from a career-threatening broken leg. He added:
Our fans are very good and are a major weapon, so the last thing I am every going to do is say anything negative about them.
Crystal Palace look to rid any disappointment when they host West Ham this Saturday in the Premier League.
