Crystal Palace have had many woes this season, but very few have been more evident than their shortage of attacking threat.
Andros Townsend chips in with a goal here and there, Wilfried Zaha scores his fair share for a wide player, and Christian Benteke will score if he is played to his strengths.
However, with a lack of depth up front, Palace have been punished for the summer transfer window’s shortcomings. Benteke suffered ligament damage at Manchester City away this season, and Palace have been forced to play without a recognised striker.
Connor Wickham appears to be making progress with his recovery, but simply isn’t a reliable option in terms of fitness, and in terms of the required quality to help Palace resurrect their season.
A striker is sure to be at the top of Roy Hodgson’s agenda when the January transfer window rolls around.
