Gareth Southgate reassures Palace over Loftus-Cheek injury

According to the Independent, Gareth Southgate has reassured the Crystal Palace faithful about Ruben Loftus-Cheek injury despite coming off in the first half.

After his impressive performance in England’s 0-0 draw with Germany on Friday, England new-boy Loftus-Cheek earned another starting place against the might of Brazil last night but the youngster was forced off in the first half with an injury.

However, England manager, Southgate, has calmed the fears from Crystal Palace fans over the injury to one of their main men.

In the post-match press conference, Southgate said:

It’s a problem with his back which he has had periodically, it should settle down fairly quickly. I don’t expect it to be a problem.

Southgate added with praise for Loftus-Cheek and plans that they have for the promising midfielder:

We’re going to have to give him time to build his resilience, he’s already played more minutes than he did in the whole of last season.

But he’s way stronger than he was a year or two ago. Then, it was difficult for him to finish 90 minutes. It’s a disappointment for him to come off, but these 10 days have been a massive stride forward for him.
