Vicente Guaita’s proposed move to Crystal Palace is in doubt with reports today in Spain claiming that the 31-year-old’s move is dependent on the club remaining in the Premier League next season.
According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, via Sport Witness, if Palace are relegated then the goalkeeper wouldn’t make the move to South London in the summer. It is believed that some sort of ‘get-out’ clause was agreed in the pre-contract, but it isn’t clear whether this, if true, was agreed by either club or the player himself.
Contrary to this report, Dominic Fifield from the Guardian has said that despite this newspaper report in Spain, his understanding is that whether Palace are in the Premier League or Championship next season, the proposed move will still happen.

If true, he would move to Palace under the Bosman Ruling on 1 July with all parties committed to the transfer.
Speaking earlier this month, manager Roy Hodgson insisted that an agreement has been reached with the Spaniard.

We have signed a pre-contract with Vicente Guaita so he will join us on 1 July. We would have liked to have tried to persuade the club to sign him in January but they didn’t want to do that, which is their right because his contract with them does not run out until the summer.
It is good news that we will have him from 1 July and he will boost our goalkeeping contingent in the way I was hoping it would be boosted.
The goalkeeping position has been a problem for Hodgson’s team this season, with the injury to Julian Speroni and this inconsistencies of Wayne Hennessey, but Palace fans will he hoping that this all changes if Vicente Guaita arrives in the summer.
