Crystal Palace have joined Fulham in their interest of Newcastle Striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, and have asked to be ‘kept in the loop’ when it comes to the Serbian’s future, according to the Chronicle.
The strikers time on Tyneside looks to be coming to an end after three years, with a fee of £15million being quoted for his services. However, with Palace now joining the fray, it could spark a bidding war.
Having had a difficult time at Newcastle, he headed to London with Fulham and had just enjoyed a very successful loan stint scoring 12 in 18 games, helping the Cottagers to the play-off final which they subsequently won 1-0 against Aston Villa.
Speaking in an interview last week, Palace boss Roy Hodgson seemed to be a fan of the forward, comparing him to Shearer when it comes to his displays as a target man.
And also they have Mitrovic, who probably produced the best display of target play I have seen for a long while the other night.
He used his body well to hold the ball up and either turn the defender, or bring others into the play – a bit like Alan Shearer really.
