A whole host of top-flight clubs had been linked with moves for Meyer following the expiration of his contract with Bundesliga giants Schalke at the end of the season.
However, with interest having faded progressively throughout the summer, Palace have capitalised on the opportunity to recruit the German international, free of any transfer fee.

Crystal Palace have accelerated their transfer dealings in recent days, with Meyer joining Cheikhou Kouyate as the club’s second arrival in the space of as many days.
Meyer has put pen to paper on a long-term contract at Palace, and reports indicate that he will come in as the club’s highest earner.
The Eagles will hope that Meyer can make an immediate impact for the club.
