Crystal Palace could be without another defender for Sunday’s clash against Watford, following a training injury.
The Eagles were already due to miss full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka after he was sent off against Liverpool on Monday, but could now be without another full-back in Papé Souare, who limped off during a training session.
Talking about Souare’s injury in his pre-match press conference, Soaure said:
Papé Souare limped out of training today with a slight muscle problem.
He limped out of the training session, and I haven’t spoken to the physios yet to determine the extent of that, but he was as fit as a butcher’s dog at the start of it.
For Palace, Patrick van Aanholt is the first-choice at left-back, so the impact of Souare’s absence won’t be immediately felt, while Hodgson believes he has plentiful adequate replacements for Wan-Bissaka on the right. He continued:
We are fortunate that we don’t have too many injury problems, so that’s good.
Of course we can’t play Aaron Wan-Bissaka, but we have Joel Ward and Martin Kelly, so we have two good players who can play at right-back, and they are good alternatives.
