Wilfried Zaha says he has no regrets over his decision to switch alliances to the Ivory Coast.
Speaking exclusively to Shortlist about his international career, Zaha maintains the belief that he made the correct decision.
Zaha had represented England at youth level and was briefly included in the England senior side, ironically, during Roy Hodgson’s time in charge.
However, as he had not featured in a competitive fixture for the Three Lions, he was free to switch over to the Ivory Coast.
None. I did want to play with England because I’ve been here since the age of four, but it reached a point where I thought, ‘What am I waiting for? I want an international career, am I really going to get an opportunity [with England]? “The Ivory Coast had been begging for ages. The country and the fans love me already, and I haven’t even done anything.

The winger is now a regular for the African side and is a popular figure among fans.
There were some England fans who expressed their regret at the decision to let Zaha slip through the net, with the Three Lions lacking slightly in the final third at the World Cup in Russia during the summer.
