Crystal Palace star Wayne Hennessey has been charged after a photograph appeared on social media of the goalkeeper making a controversial gesture.
The picture, which was posted by Palace midfielder Max Meyer, was taken during a meal with the rest of the squad, where Hennessey is seen to be making a ‘Nazi salute’ in the background.
According to Sky Sports, the Welshman has until the 31st January to respond to the charge, but said any resemblance to the gesture was “absolutely coincidental”.

He was reported to have tweeted:
It’s been brought to my attention that frozen in a moment by the camera this looks like I am making a completely inappropriate type of salute.
Hennessey has made 17 appearances for Palace so far this season, but has missed out on recent games through an injury he sustained against Watford.
Crystal Palace will be hoping this has no further impact on their squad, as they prepare to face Tottenham this weekend.
