Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend’s spectacular long-range strike against Manchester City has been named as the ‘Goal of the Year’ at the London Football Awards, as reported on the official club website.
Townsend volleyed in from the edge of the box during Palace’s surprise 3-2 win at the Etihad Stadium earlier on this season.

The 27-year-old has been in good form this season and that goal may even win the goal of the 2018/19 season award at the end of the campaign.
After winning the award, Townsend said:
It’s a huge honour for me. It was a special occasion for myself, for Crystal Palace.
To get a win at the Etihad is no mean feat. It’s a goal and a win I’ll never forget for the rest of my career.
There were numerous great strikes during 2018 in the Premier League, but the panel of 22 experts felt Townsend’s was the best.
