Crystal Palace offered young defender Nikola Tavares a fresh contract at the end of last season and it appears that despite outside interest, he will stay at Selhurst Park.
The 20-year-old was subject to interest from South African team Kaizer Chiefs, according to reports, cited by Football London. Despite the possibility of guaranteed first team football the defender will stay at Palace.
Manager Roy Hodgson will be keen to keep hold of the youngster with Palace lacking youth players at the back and with defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka looking likely to leave they need all the cover they can get.
Injuries have meant that the defender hasn’t been able to feature this season, only getting a place on the bench last game of the season. Tavares will be hopeful of more first team football if he remains fit for next season, he is clearly in Roy Hodgson’s plans offering him another contract.
Here are four defenders Palace should try to sign this summer.
