Palace keeping an eye on Diagne at AFCON

Crystal Palace have reportedly been keeping a close eye on Mbaye Diagne at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Eagles were linked with a move to sign the striker earlier on in the week following his exploits in the Turkish Super Lig throughout the course of last season.

Diagne was in prolific form for two clubs. He scored 21 goals for Kasimpasa before Galatasaray secured a deal for him midway through the campaign. The forward proceeded to net another 10 for his new side.

Such was the form that the striker showed, interest from the Premier League has reportedly gathered, with Palace among the apparent potential suitors.

The Eagles may be on the lookout for a new front-man this summer, and according to claims from Turkish news outlet Fanatik, as translated in a report from Sport Witness, they are taking a closer look at Diagne this summer.

Although he has not yet made a start, the Galatasaray man is in the Senegal squad at the Africa Cup of Nations, and Palace are understood to have been monitoring his progress in Egypt.

Diagne will be hoping to play a part when his national team lock horns with Tunisia in the semi-finals of the tournament on Sunday after he turned in a strong display in the previous round against Benin from the bench.

Palace’s rivals Brighton and Hove Albion are also stated to be keen on signing the Senegal international.
