Victor Camarasa’s Crystal Palace arrival only seems like a matter of time now, after he received permission from Real Betis to travel to England and complete a move, but is he an upgrade on Roy Hodgson’s current options?
According to Spanish journalist Antonio Fuentes, Camarasa missed training today after getting the thumbs up to fly to London and get his Premier League return over the line.

Read Palace’s verdict
Camarasa was regularly the shining light in the centre of a woeful Cardiff City team in the top-flight last season and has been widely tipped to return to England all summer.
Although Palace’s regular midfielders Luka Milivojevic, Cheikhou Kouyate and James McArthur trumped the Spaniard’s defensive statistics – it shows that the Eagles are covered defensively in midfield, but he’ll bring a new dimension.
The 25-year-old played just one more game than Kouyate, but took 20 more shots, provided four assists to the Palace man’s tally of zero and completed 885 passes, 120 more.
And when you bring McArthur into the equation, Camarasa beats him in every single attacking statistic. Do you see what I’m getting at here?
In Palace’s typical 4-4-2, Hodgson can utilise Milivojevic as the more defensive central midfielder and offer Camarasa the chance to express himself as an advanced partner. It could works wonders.
