James McCarthy will prove to be a good signing for Crystal Palace, bringing a wealth of experience to Roy Hodgson’s side.
BBC Sport’s David Ornstein has confirmed on Twitter that the 28-year-old was on his way to London late on Tuesday night, after Everton and Palace agreed a fee for his services.
The deal is worth £3 million and McCarthy will undergo a medical and complete the move on Wednesday.

It’s been a frustrating summer at Selhurst Park, not least because of Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s exit and Wilfried Zaha’s potential departure.
Many are predicting Hodgson’s men to be in a relegation scrap this season, but the addition of McCarthy will help in that respect.
The midfielder is hugely experienced in the Premier League and provides box-to-box energy that will prove influential for Palace.
Not only that, he will add much-needed squad depth, giving competition to the likes of Cheikhou Kouyate, Luka Milivojevic and James McCarthur.
A broken leg suffered in 2017/18 does have the potential to have taken an edge off McCarthy’s game, but he should flourish with more game time than he managed at Everton.
