Plenty of Crystal Palace fans are coming together to remember Andros Townsend’s spell-bounding strike in that famous 3-2 win at Manchester City in December, after his nomination for the 2019 FIFA Puskas award.
Townsend came out of nowhere in the 35th minute to catch Bernardo Silva’s headed clearance perfectly on the volley with his left foot and send the ball flying into the top right corner, putting the Eagles into a 2-1 lead at the Etihad Stadium.
The 28-year-old is up for the award alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Lionel Messi and faces even more competition from the likes of Billie Simpson’s thumping half-way line volley and Fabio Quagriella’s classy flick.
These supporters are fans of the goal, and even bigger fans of Palace being represented on such a big stage:

READ CRYSTAL PALACE’S VERDICT
Most, if not all of the nominees’ strikes are highly commendable, but Townsend’s goal, when you consider the venue, opponent and moment in the match, could be in with a real shot of winning.
Whatever happens, it’s quite surreal to see the Palace forward pitted against some of the biggest footballing names in history for an award only growing in reputation.
Palace fans will rightly go and vote for Townsend now, but I seriously urge you to visit the FIFA website and take a look at all of the nominations; you’ll have your breath taken over. That’s a promise.
