A much changed team (10 changes) on Tuesday night meant Palace couldn’t progress past League Two opposition Colchester. Due to this, it is safe to assume Roy will revert back to the team that did so well to gain all three points at Old Trafford.
Many of the players who were given a chance to stake a claim in the first team failed to make any sort of meaningful impact; Max Meyer & Andros Townsend in particular proved disappointing.
Jordan Ayew’s place for Saturday’s game seems assured, as both Christian Benteke & Connor Wickham failed to get on the scoresheet in a game many thought would be beneficial in building their confidence.
After utilising the 4-5-1 system against Manchester Utd last weekend, Hosgson will likely keep the same personnel, but switch to a 4-3-3 in order to be slightly more progressive at home.
Whatever lineup Hodgson decides to field, it is impossible to predict the outcome of the game, what with Palace’s inconsistent results in recent weeks, frustrating Palace supporters alike.
