Roy Hodgson was furious with his team after their 4-0 defeat against Tottenham, and he is absolutely correct in what he says.
Crystal Palace went into the game off the back of a 1-0 win over Aston Villa, with things beginning to look for the Eagles, but this didn’t last long. Palace were 4-0 by half time, with Son bagging two goals, and Lamela scoring, and then a Patrick Van Aanholt’s own goal summed up Palace’s day at the Tottenham Stadium.
After the match Hodgson was furious with his side’s performance, and when asked if he was happy his team kept the score down in the second half, he replied with:
They were 4-0 up, I won’t sit here and take any solace from the fact that they did not add to the 4-0 scoreline.
However, Hodgson did say there was one positive to take from the game, but stressed that it was the only positive he could take from the match:
The only positive I can take from the game is that Mamadou Sakho, after such a long time out through injury, got through 90 minutes in a very, very tough game. If you are looking for me to give you some positives from a Crystal Palace point of view, I can’t come with anything other than that.

Roy Hodgson is completely right to not take any positives from what a shambolic performance from his side. The defence fell apart after Son’s opener, and they didn’t put any fight up or put Tottenham under any pressure throughout the match. They sat back and allowed Spurs to dominate play.
Hodgson should expect players to attend training tomorrow, after such an awful performance, as this would not only provide the players with a big wake up call, but it would stamp some authority on the team.
Hodgson will indefinitely want a good reaction from his players after the performance today and will want his team to bounce back against Wolves.
