Crystal Palace are among the teams set to miss out on Southend goalkeeper Nathan Bishop, who is poised to sign a three-year deal with Manchester United.
According to Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail, the player was wanted by Palace, Manchester United, West Ham and Tottenham following his performances for the Football League side.
However, it is Man United who have seemingly won the race to sign him, with the 20-year-old expected to join up with the club’s first-team squad for their winter break training camp.
Bishop missed Southend’s game on Tuesday to undergo a medical with Manchester United (BBC).

It’s a shame to see Palace miss out on a young goalkeeper, especially with the uncertainties that surround Vicente Guaita’s future at the club. The 33-year-old will see his contract at Selhurst Park expire next summer and Manchester City and Chelsea have recently been linked with a swoop (AS).
Palace also have Wayne Hennessey and Stephen Henderson to call upon in the goalkeeper department, but at 33 and 31 respectively, neither of them are approaching their prime years.
Surprisingly, no goalkeepers have been seriously linked with a move to Palace this month, but given the fact that the combined age of the three aforementioned players comes to a whopping 97, it should be a position that Hodgson aims to strengthen in the summer window with Guaita potentially moving on.
