Crystal Palace striker Alexander Sorloth joined Turkish side Trabzonspor on loan last August, a deal which lasts until the end of next season.
Since then, the Norway international has scored a remarkable 19 goals for the club in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
16 of them have come in 19 Super Lig appearances and his form is the total opposite to how it was for Palace. In 16 Premier League appearances, Sorloth failed to even score once and he didn’t even register an assist.
But, does his change in form mean he could be the answer to Palace’s goalscoring problems?
The Eagles have scored the least amount of goals in the top-flight this season, finding the net only 22 times. Jordan Ayew has netted six of them, loan striker Cenk Tosun has one, whilst Christian Benteke has no league goals yet this season.
We believe that Sorloth has regained his confidence by scoring all these goals for Trabzonspor and at the end of his two-season loan, we feel he deserves another chance to succeed at Palace.
As reported on Turkish Football, Roy Hodgson expects to work with Sorloth again, which could be an indication that he has a future at the club.
Confidence totally changes a player and with Benteke still not finding any sort of scoring form, we feel Sorloth deserves as much of a chance at the club as the Belgian.
Although the Turkish league isn’t as competitive as the Premier League, it still has some good teams and to score 16 times is no easy feat.
According to a report on Turkish Football, the striker can not be recalled from loan this summer, but he could be a viable option for Palace in the future.
