Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has spoken out about the club’s transfer dealings in January.
The Eagles only saw two new players join the club last month.
Striker Cenk Tosun arrived on a loan deal from Everton whilst young midfielder Scott Banks signed from Scottish side Dundee United, before moving to Alloa Athletic on loan.
Hodgson doesn’t want the same to happen again in the summer transfer window and has sent a clear message to chairman Steve Parish and the owners of the club. As quoted on Football London, he said:
I think that the club is aware of our situation. I think we know, as a football club, that we need to make more inroads into improving our squad and rejuvenating our squad, and bringing in some fresh faces.
An awful lot of the faces I see every day are the same faces I have seen every day since I came to the club and inherited them.
I think now, Steve Parish, Doug Freedman and the American owners, they are going to have to do a lot of thinking alongside myself and the coaching staff as to what the best way forward is and in the next transfer window, what we are going to be able to do to try and ensure that this team gets stronger, and to try to ensure that if we stay up this year we will go into the next year with a bit more power and grease to our elbow.

The Eagles were on the verge of signing defender Nathan Ferguson from West Bromwich Albion before the move broke down on deadline day after the player’s knee issue meant he failed his medical.
We believe that Hodgson is clearly stating that he wants the club to invest in more players at the end of the season. And we totally agree with him. Why? Because the team needs to add more quality if they are to progress forward each year.
Once again the team is involved in a potential relegation battle and if they were to make more good quality signings on a permanent basis, then we feel they would not be in this situation.
