Crystal Palace are reportedly looking to sign four players under the age of 24 this summer, which could open the door to bring in Allan Saint-Maximin from Newcastle.
According to the Evening Standard, Palace are ready to back Roy Hodgson in the transfer market and want to bolster his squad with four under-24 stars.
Palace have been linked with a move for Newcastle forward Saint-Maximin, who would fit the bill of a player under the age of 24. Saint-Maximin is 22 and has been impressing in the Premier League for Newcastle this season.
The mercurial French forward has recorded a superb WhoScored rating of 7.18, completing 4.4 dribbles and creating 1.4 chances per game in the Premier League. Saint-Maximin is great at beating his man out wide and creating space to cross the ball or play a pass to a teammate open in the middle to then have a shot or play another key pass.
He fits the age criteria and has proven himself with his performances in the Premier League this season. Saint-Maximin’s WhoScored rating is also higher than any Palace outfield player this season, with Wilfried Zaha’s 7.06 the closest to the Frenchman’s rating.
This suggests that Saint-Maximin could be a shrewd addition to Palace’s squad and improve their attacking options next season. He could line up alongside Jordan Ayew and Zaha and form a deadly trio for Palace in the Premier League, with all three being quick and skillful attackers who could interchange and create play with each other at the top end of the pitch.
