Palace eyeing up summer swoop for Batshuayi

Crystal Palace should make a move for Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi this summer after it has been revealed that he wants to stay in London.

According to the Express, Palace are interested in the striker and Chelsea are prepared to listen to offers for his services in the summer.

The report claims that Batshuayi also wants to stay in London, which could be a huge boost to Palace’s chances of landing the striker.

With this new information, it could make sense for Palace to place a bid for the Belgian international in an attempt to lure him to Selhurst Park next season. Palace are interested in him and he wants to stay in London, something that the Eagles can offer him, so it could be an ideal situation for both parties.

Batshuayi has, of course, already had a spell with the club as well, so will be familiar with most of the players and Roy Hodgson. He scored five goals in nine starts in the second half of the 2018/19 campaign, showing that he is capable of scoring goals in the Premier League in Palace’s set-up. This means it could be less of a risk than signing a player from abroad, as Batshuayi is already experienced in England and has existing knowledge of his potential teammates.

While Jordan Ayew has impressed at times this season and has scored eight Premier League goals, Batshuayi could offer some serious competition and add further firepower to Palace’s squad. It could give Hodgson the option to play Batshuayi and Ayew as a pair or to rotate them throughout the season.
