Crystal Palace could live to regret their decision to green-light an option-to-buy in Trabzonspor’s loan deal for Alexander Sorloth last summer, with Tottenham and Real Madrid now interested in the striker.
According to Turkish outlet Asistanaliz, Tottenham and Real Madrid were both planning to send scouts to watch Sorloth play as they consider summer swoops for the forward.
The report claims that they were forced to cancel their plans, though, as the game was eventually played behind-closed-doors.
Despite them not being able to go to the game to scout Sorloth, the report does still show that Madrid and Spurs are both taking an interest in Sorloth and could be tempted to make a move for him in the next transfer window. If this is the case, Palace could be left ruing their decision to let him go last summer.
They may not regret letting him leave on loan, but they could look back and wonder what they could have done instead of allowing Trabzonspor to have a €6m option-to-buy.
This means that Trabzonspor can complete a permanent deal for Sorloth and then sell him on for a huge profit if the likes of Spurs and Real start making offers for the Norweigan hitman.
Sorloth has scored 25 goals in all competitions for Trabzonspor this season, after failing to find the back of the net once for Palace in 12 Premier League appearances last term.
His incredible upturn in fortunes may have been hard to predict, but Palace could now be set to miss out on a massive windfall should he move to a top European club this summer.
