Crystal Palace are reportedly preparing an offer for Real Betis left-back Alex Moreno ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to Spanish outlet AS, both Palace and Everton are interested in signing Moreno and are lining up offers for the fullback.
The report claims that Real Betis are expecting the duo to make offers of around €21m, which is triple the amount which they paidto Rayo Vallecano to sign him last summer.
Palace signing Moreno could solve a pressing issue in the squad for the 2020/21 campaign; the left-back spot.
Patrick Van Aanholt has been solid for the majority of the campaign, with a WhoScored rating of 6.79, but there is no back up for his position.
Jairo Riedewald, a midfielder, was forced to play at left-back at the beginning of the year when Van Aanholt was out through injury. He has recorded an unimpressive WhoScored rating of 6.37 for his performances in the position, so signing a natural left-back could be a shrewd move by the club.
Instead of having to play Riedewald out of position, Palace could have two natural left-backs fighting for starting shirt, pushing each other on to improve.
Moreno has a rating of 6.68 in La Liga for Real Betis and could be a better option than Riedewald to challenge Van Aanholt, whilst signing a natural left-back could also allow Roy Hodgson to utlise Riedewald as a midfielder if needed
