A clause has been revealed in Crystal Palace target Rafael Borre’s contract that could provide a huge boost for the Eagles in their pursuit of the forward.
According to Spanish outlet AS, Atletico Madrid have an option to bring Borre back to Spain for a fee of €7m, having originally sold the striker to River Plate back in 2017.
The report claims that Palace are interested in a deal for the centre-forward, who has a €30m release clause in his River Plate contract.
Instead of paying €30m for Borre, Palace could posibly open talks with Atletico Madrid and see if they would be willing to buy Borre for €7m. If the Spanish giants comply and sign Borre themselves, then they could make a profit by selling him on to Palace for a fee less than €30m.
This could be an ideal partnership between Palace and Atletico. It could see Atletico make a quick profit on a player they, seemingly, have no interest in and Palace could sign one of their targets for a cut-price deal.
Considering Atletico are not interested in signing him for their own squad, they could offer Palace a good price for the forward, as long as it is in excess of the €7m they will need to pay to bring him back to Spain.
If Palace are able to successfully negotiate this type of deal, then they could be making a key addition to their side.
Borre has scored 12 goals in 18 starts for River Plate and is still only 24-years-old, whilst Palace have scored the second-least amount of goals in the Premier League this season.
Given Borre’s impressive goal return for River, he could be the man Palace need to ignite their attack. Bringing in a prolific goalscorer could help Palace push up the table and ease the burden on the likes of Jordan Ayew and Wilf Zaha, who could have more freedom in their play if they know that they are not relied upon so heavily for goals.
