Many Crystal Palace fans have been reacting to the club’s post on Twitter which recalls the time the side faced Barnsley at Selhurst Park back in 2013.
The game was a dull affair as the teams drew 0-0, but it will be remembered due to the fact that Barnsley had to wear the Eagles away kit during the fixture.
This was due to the fact that the home kit of the Yorkshire side was red, and their away was blue, which clearly caused an issue because Palace’s home colours are red and blue, so the only alternative was to give Barnsley their away strip.
It was a ‘bizarre game’ as one fan pointed out, however, it was a very crucial one at the time for the South London side’s promotion challenge.
The club came into the game off the back of losing the last three, so any points were vital to keep them in the play-off positions. After the 0-0, the club went on a four-game unbeaten run which maintained their place in the top six.
Here is how some fans reacted to the throwback tweet.
