Crystal Palace are looking to capitalise on Mikel Arteta’s difficult task of keeping every player happy at Arsenal. The Gunners have a star-studded squad, and that often means some high-profile names miss out on desired game time.
Myles Lewis-Skelly is one of those players who has found first-team football hard to come by this season. The left-back has started just one of 14 Premier League games, and Arteta has preferred Riccardo Calafiori over the English teenager.
Palace are a club renowned for giving youngsters a chance to prove their worth. The South Londoners signed a young Marc Guehi from Chelsea and he developed into one of the best centre-backs in the country.
Lewis-Skelly to Selhurst?
Steve Parish’s transfer chiefs might be looking to pull off similar success by swooping for Lewis-Skelly. A report from CaughtOffside claims that the Eagles are monitoring his situation closely.
A potential loan deal could be on the cards for the Hale End academy graduate, who was a mainstay in the Arsenal team last season. He particularly caught the eye in the Gunners’ Champions League quarter-final win over Real Madrid.
Gary Neville waxed lyrical in response to Lewis-Skelly’s impressive showings on the biggest stage. The Sky Sports pundit said:
“(Lewis-Skelly’s) ability to take the ball in the biggest games in tight situations. It’s incredible what he’s doing.”

Palace aren’t the only club interested in the young English full-back who has earned six caps. Everton and West Ham United are also believed to be in the race to sign him on loan.
Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider claims Lewis-Skelly has grown “frustrated” with his reduced minutes. He suggested that he might push to leave the Emirates this summer.
An ideal signing for Glasner successor
Lewis-Skelly would be an excellent loan signing for Palace and hand Oliver Glasner’s replacement a much-needed option at left-back. Tyrick Mitchell has been an ever-present for the South London outfit this season.
Borna Sosa arrived from Ajax last summer, but there are already doubts over his future at Selhurst Park. The Croatian has struggled to impress and hasn’t provided the level of competition for Mitchell that the club expected.
Lewis-Skelly remains one of the most exciting teenage talents in English football despite falling down Arteta’s pecking order. He is also versatile, able to drop into midfield if required and that’s another box ticked.
