- Three clubs want Crystal Palace star Ismaila Sarr
- Senegalese winger enjoying stellar season
- Eagles fans shouldn’t be concerned
Ismaila Sarr has become the talisman at Crystal Palace, and speculation over his future was inevitably going to arise. The Senegalese attacker is enjoying a stellar season, posting 15 goals and two assists in 32 games across competitions thus far.
The 28-year-old scored a brace in a 2-1 win over AEK Larnaca during the Europa Conference League Round of 16. His impressive form has earned huge praise from teammates, including Will Hughes, who dubbed him “underrated.”
If Europe didn’t rate Sarr, it appears they are now amid reports suggesting scouts have been tracking the Eagles man. One of those clubs is Everton, who view him as a potential Iliman Ndiaye replacement should his compatriot depart Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Sarr Form Leads to Transfer Rumours
A report from Sports Boom, which tends to make some far-fetched claims, suggests that Everton, Villarreal and AC Milan are monitoring Sarr. A bizarre line reads that David Moyes’ Toffees are weighing up a package ‘worth approximately €30 million (£26m).’
Sarr joined the South Londoners for €15 million (£12.6m) in August 2024. It seems highly unlikely that the club would consider selling their most important player for £26m, who has three years left on his contract.
Palace need to build a team around the Senegalese international and appoint a new manager to replace Oliver Glasner. It’s vital that his successor takes charge with the African Cup of Nations winner in his squad.
‘My Second Family’
Sarr’s best performance for Palace came in last season’s FA Cup semi-final win over Aston Villa at Wembley. He came to the fore, bagging a brace in a 3-0 victory to help fire Glasner’s men to the final.
The Senegalese player starred in that game, and his already-strong relationship with the club’s fanbase grew. He spoke of this after the game to the club’s media team:
“Palace are a very, very good team, my second family. I like the fans. Every time, you come to help the team – every time: home, away… I like it.“
Sarr has appeared 79 times for Palace, scoring 27 goals and providing 10 assists. Transfer talk is inevitable, much like his knack for finding the back of the net this season.
The focus will be on helping the Eagles win the Conference League and add another major trophy to the club’s trophy cabinet. He will be vital if European glory is achieved and next up is a quarter-final tie against Fiorentina.
