- Crystal Palace fans love Daichi Kamada
- Japanese midfielder made hilarious comment
- A language barrier with Yeremy Pino
Daichi Kamada might just be the funniest player in the Crystal Palace squad and his latest comments had fans laughing. The Japanese midfielder is enjoying a fine season at Selhurst Park.
Palace face Fiorentina tonight in the second leg of their Europa Conference League quarter-final. The Eagles are 3-0 up on aggregate from the first leg.
Kamada provided an assist in that game, producing an excellent performance to help the South Londons take control of the tie. But Yeremy Pino also caught the eye after coming off the bench in the second half.
Both Kamada and Pino are likely to start tonight’s game against Fiorentina in Florence. Evann Guessand is sidelined which should mean the Spanish attacker takes the left wing spot.
Communication might be a slight issue between the pair judging by Kamada’s comments ahead of the match. He spoke to the media in the pre-match press conference and was asked about Pino:
“Unfortunately I can’t speak with Yeremy a lot because he can’t speak good English and I also can’t speak English well.”
He then explained that the language barrier isn’t a problem when on the pitch:
“However, once we’re on the pitch, we can understand each other through our passes, movements, and even just a glance. In those moments, we connect beyond words—football becomes a universal language that brings us together despite the language barrier.”
Kamada has been in England since July 2024 when he arrived as a free agent after leaving Italian side Lazio. Meanwhile, Pino, joined him in the English capital last summer when he joined the club from Villarreal in a £30m deal.
Kamada is an interesting personality who has become a fan favourite at Selhurst Park. He unintentionally has fans in tears of laughter and that was the case when speaking about his relationship with Pino.
One fan responded to his comments on X: “This has me crying oh my god.”
Another added: “Kamada’s press conference is way too funny.”
One posted a picture of a previous quote from Cheick Doucoure: “I don’t speak English, I speak the Palace language.”
One called Kamada: “Funniest guy in the team.”
Hopefully, the pair will be in similar moods once the final whistle goes after tonight’s game against Fiorentina. A place in the semi-finals is at stake and Glasner’s team are edging closer to a final in Leipzig.
