- Crystal Palace face Liverpool
- Oliver Glasner without two attackers
- Can Glasner finish his reign unbeaten at Anfield?
Crystal Palace make the trip to Anfield on Saturday to face Liverpool in one of their final games under Oliver Glasner. That will be eleven if the Eagles can make it to the UEFA Conference League final.
A trip to Poland to face the Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk in the first leg of the semi-finals is next Thursday. But Glasner and his men are insisting they are still focused on ending the Premier League campaign as high up as possible.
Glasner can end his historic reign by adding another major trophy but also with an impressive record at Anfield. He has yet to taste defeat at the Merseyside stadium since replacing Roy Hodgson in early 2024.

Palace and Liverpool’s meeting kicks off at 3 PM GMT and thus won’t be televised in the United Kingdom. But UK-based fans can catch live audio commentary of the game via cpfc.co.uk and the Official Crystal Palace app courtesy of Palace TV+.

Team News
Glasner has confirmed that Adam Wharton will be available after missing the 0-0 draw against West Ham United on Monday. The English midfielder came off in the first half of a 2-1 loss (4-2 on aggregate) against Fiorentina on Thursday due to an adductor issue.
Evann Guessand continues to recover from a knee injury and won’t be available for today’s game. That’s also the case for Eddie Nketiah, whose hamstring problem means he will be sidelined for the rest of the season.
Cheick Doucoure is still getting back to full match fitness after a lengthy spell out with an ACL injury. He’s been appearing with the youth team to make sure he is ready for senior action.
Expected XI
Palace face Shakhtar in the first leg of their semi-final next Thursday and it will be interesting to see if Glasner opts to rotate. But Dean Henderson should be starting in goal, with Chris Richards, Maxence Lacroix and Jaydee Canvot again in central defence.
Daniel Munoz and Tyrick Mitchell can be expected to start at wing-back and the latter could come up against Mohamed Salah for the last time. The Egyptian is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.
Wharton might be fit but his recent injury might mean he starts on the bench rather than makes the starting XI. It could be Jefferson Lerma who continues in midfield but alongside Daichi Kamada rather than Will Hughes.
In attack, Ismaila Sarr should replace Brennan Johnson on the right amid the Welshman’s struggles. Up top, Jorgen Strand Larsen could lead the line to allow Jean-Philippe Mateta to remain fresh for the trip to Poland and Yeremy Pino will probably be on the left.
Crystal Palace Likely Lineup: Henderson; Richards, Lacroix, Canvot; Munoz, Lerma, Kamada, Mitchell; Sarr, Strand Larsen, Pino
Prediction
All of the pressure is on Liverpool picking up all three points to continue their push for Champions League qualification. Slot’s Reds head into the game fifth, five points ahead of sixth-placed Brighton & Hove Albion.
That doesn’t mean Palace have nothing to play for because they are still in with a chance of European qualification. A win puts them right in the mix for a seventh-placed finish.
This Liverpool team are vulnerable and Glasner might have a plan to cause the hosts problems on the counter. We see the Eagles stealing a point late on.
Prediction: Liverpool 1-1 Crystal Palace
