Crystal Palace enquire about £35m Trevoh Chalobah deal

Crystal Palace have reportedly asked Chelsea about the availability of Trevoh Chalobah during talks between the two clubs this summer.

Chelsea reporter Simon Phillips claims Palace made an enquiry for their former loanee, although there is no suggestion that a formal offer has been submitted.

Chelsea are seeking a package worth around £35m for the centre-back. Serie A clubs Inter Milan and Como also remain interested, but the asking price has slowed progress towards a deal.

Chalobah spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Selhurst Park before Chelsea recalled him midway through the campaign. He made 14 appearances for Palace and scored three goals.

The 27-year-old has since rebuilt his position at Stamford Bridge, making 47 appearances across all competitions last season before earning a place in England’s World Cup squad.

Palace consider familiar defensive option

Palace’s interest comes while Chelsea continue to pursue Maxence Lacroix.

The clubs have held discussions over the France international, with Chalobah’s name previously mentioned as a possible part of negotiations. A separate permanent move would give Pierre Sage a defender with Premier League experience and an existing understanding of the Palace squad.

Read Crystal Palace recently reported that Chelsea had renewed contact over Lacroix, who remains one of Xabi Alonso’s leading defensive targets.

Chalobah can play centrally or on the right of a back three, making him a natural fit for several systems. His familiarity with Selhurst Park would also reduce the adjustment normally required from a new signing.

However, Chelsea’s £35m valuation represents a sizeable investment. Palace would also face competition from Italy if either Inter or Como returns with an improved proposal.

The enquiry remains at an early stage, but Chalobah could become a serious option if Lacroix leaves south London.
