Crystal Palace has been the hunting ground for some of Europe’s elite clubs, who also happen to have deeper pockets than most. Recent departures of Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise, Marc Guehi and Joachim Andersen have certainly hurt the Eagles as they have some of their top talents
Adding to Palace’s miseries, some of these players’ transfer fees feel like bargains when compared to some of the recent big-money moves in the Premier League.
Guehi’s recent transfer to Manchester City for £20 million certainly had the fans feeling that the club management could have squeezed a few more millions out of that deal, given the centre-back’s performances during the previous campaigns.
Crystal Palace’s probable gain from a future Michael Olise transfer
Crystal Palace will get a similar feeling if another of their recent departures, Olise, makes the rumoured £250 million move to Real Madrid from Bayern Munich this summer.
A fee of around £55 million turned out to be enough for Palace to let go of Olise, as he joined Bayern Munich back in 2024 and now the reported numbers might just make that figure seem like one of the biggest bargains in football history.
There are reports of a 15% sell-on clause being present. That could land Crystal Palace something around £30 million more if Olise’s touted move does happen.
Olise’s staggering stats since last season
Olise certainly had a season to cherish last time around, as he scored a total of 22 goals and provided 31 assists for Bayern Munich during the previous campaign.
The 24-year-old carried his brilliant form into the World Cup, as he provided seven assists in this edition of the tournament, surpassing Pele’s record of six assists, which the Brazilian great set in 1970.
Los Blancos are now keen to bring in the in-form winger to the Santiago Bernabeu, as Florentino Perez, is reportedly a big fan of the Frenchman’s qualities with the ball on his feet.
Olise’s partnership with Kylian Mbappe has also been a talking point in the Spanish capital, as the European giants now look forward to reunite the attacking duo following the end of France’s World Cup campaign.
Palace still might regret their decision
Palace were unfortunate not to win any major trophy during the Frenchman’s time at Selhurst Park, but certainly there was no lack of individual brilliance from the player’s side, as he scored 16 goals and provided 25 assists in all competitions for the Eagles.
Given Perez’s reported interest, it won’t be shocking if Real Madrid actually pays the £250 million transfer fee for Olise. As for the Eagles, the move will seemingly fetch them an extra £30 million, which would increase the overall profit they will make on the transfer but it still might not feel enough given the winger’s quality and rise to superstardom since leaving.
