Crystal Palace now know their route to a potential domestic cup semi-final after the EFL confirmed the fixture details for the Carabao Cup quarter-final stage.
Palace host Championship high-flyers Sunderland at Selhurst Park on Wednesday, 16th December, with kick-off scheduled for 19:30 GMT. The clash will receive full live television coverage on Sky Sports as part of the EFL’s domestic broadcast package.
The Eagles booked their place in the last eight after edging out Fulham in the fourth round, delivering a crucial bright spot during an otherwise difficult October campaign.
For Palace, reaching the last eight represents a familiar milestone. They have reached the quarter-finals of the League Cup for a third consecutive season. In each of the past two campaigns, South London hearts broke at this exact stage following tough away draws against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Home advantage this time around offers a golden opportunity to push further.

Ending a 15-Year Semi-Final Wait
Palace fans remember their last deep run in this competition all too well. The club last reached the League Cup semi-finals back in the 2011/12 season under Dougie Freedman, famously knocking out Manchester United at Old Trafford before falling to Cardiff City over two legs.
Sunderland bring plenty of their own cup pedigree to South London. The Black Cats reached the League Cup final at Wembley in 2013/14, ultimately falling to Manchester City despite taking an early lead through Fabio Borini. December’s trip to Selhurst Park marks Sunderland’s first appearance in the quarter-final stage since the 2021/22 season.
Broadcast & Ticketing Information
Sky Sports will broadcast the tie live across the UK, continuing their coverage of every single Carabao Cup match this term. International supporters can access the action via the EFL’s official overseas broadcast partners.
Club officials confirmed that full ticketing details, sale dates, and loyalty point allocations for the December clash will follow in due course.
