Former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has praised Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew and thinks that he is the perfect candidate to take over the England manager’s role from Roy Hodgson.
[Alan] Pardew is really good. He did very well at Newcastle and is doing a good job at Crystal Palace. I think at this moment, Pardew is one of the best managers in England. He is doing really well.
The likelihood is that Hodgson won’t be in charge of the national team after Euro 2016, and Ancelotti, who has won the Champions League three times as a manager, says that the Palace boss is the best candidate to replace him.
If England wanted an English manager after Hodgson, then Pardew is really good and I think he is the best option to be manager of the national team. I think he is the best candidate.
Pardew only took over as the Eagles’ manager in January this year after asking for the permission to leave Newcastle, but it would be difficult to see him turning down the opportunity to manage the national team, if the opportunity does arise.
If the FA do wish to hire another English manager rather than go for a foreign boss, the only other real candidate other than Pardew would be Gary Neville who has recently took on the head coaching role at Valencia.
