Pierre Sage has endured a difficult start to life in the Premier League and is in the news if he can be sacked after just 12 games at Crystal Palace.

Despite the recent results, Pierre Sage is expected to remain in charge of Crystal Palace for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup trip to Fulham, despite growing pressure over his future at Selhurst Park.

The Frenchman is preparing for the fourth-round tie as usual, but that does not mean his position is secure. Palace have gone four games without a win, and Saturday’s Premier League trip to Tottenham could prove crucial for the under-pressure manager.

Palace delay decision on Pierre Sage

Crystal Palace have lost their last two league games, suffering a 5-0 defeat to Brighton before going down 2-0 at home to Newcastle United. They also lost 3-2 to Lyon in the Europa League before drawing 2-2 with Besiktas.

The run has left the Eagles 17th in the Premier League with seven points from eight matches. They have also conceded 19 goals, the worst defensive record in the Premier League.

According to The Guardian, the club’s board remains divided over whether Sage should be given more time. Steve Parish has so far resisted making an immediate change, but the pressure has not eased following the defeat to Newcastle.

Thomas Frank, Kieran Mckenna and Sean Dyche have all been linked with the job at Palace if Pierre Sage is sacked.

Tottenham clash could be decisive for Sage

Palace next travel to Fulham on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup Round of 16 before facing Tottenham away in the Premier League on Saturday.

The congested schedule is understood to be one reason why the club have not rushed into a decision.

Sage is expected to lead preparations for the Fulham game, giving him an immediate opportunity to get a response from his players.

However, the Tottenham fixture will be make or break for Pierre Sage to stop the slide and start on winning ways.

Sage is under pressure but he has two games to make amends before he faces the axe at Crystal Palace.
