Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew is confident that striker Connor Wickham will soon be scoring goals regularly.
The 22-year-old has yet to get off the mark for the Eagles, although he has only made seven appearances after missing roughly six weeks worth of action with a calf injury, but Pardew insists that he’s seen enough in the striker’s game to know that he’ll start hitting the back of the net sooner rather than later.
As quoted by the Daily Star, Pardew said:
The goal-scoring doesn’t bother me I have worked with enough strikers to know that he is going to score goals. The rest of his game is coming together and I am really pleased with what he does for us.

The manager also gave a hint towards his team selection, and indicated that the former Sunderland man will start up front in today’s home tie against Ronald Koeman’s Southampton.
He will be influential today even if he doesn’t score because he affects the opposition.
The Saints are in a bit of poor form as of late, they’ve not won a game since the start of November, so there is every chance that Wickham can finally break his duck.
A win for the Eagles today will see them go level on points with fifth-place Tottenham, who face Newcastle at home tomorrow.
