Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has hailed the impact of summer arrival Yohan Cabaye and has said he wants to add more players of his quality to his squad.
The Frenchman was far and away the best player on the pitch during Palace’s 1-0 win over Southampton at the weekend, scoring the only goal of the game whilst also coming close to extending his side’s lead.
Speaking after the game to Dominic Fifield of The Guardian, Pardew was quick to praise the French international midfielder.
He delivers in training, he delivers on match day, he delivers when you’re up against it. He can pull you out of the mire. That’s what great players do – and that’s what gets you into the French national side. If Didier Deschamps wants to know how Yohan is performing, he’d need only see a recording of that game. He was terrific. He’s settled in easily, the other players respect him and understand him, and he’s a special talent.

The Eagles boss also gave a hint towards his side’s future transfer plans when he said that he wants to add more players of Cabaye’s quality to his squad.
I’m fortunate to have him here but we as a club have earned that right to bring in good players like Yohan Cabaye. We need to go and find ourselves another one, maybe two, and then we’d be a really good team.
The victory over Southampton leaves Palace in sixth position in the Premier League, just three points behind Manchester United in fourth-place and if they can manage to add one or two more players, a Champions League place may not be out of the reckoning.
