Souare has sights set on European football

Crystal Palace left-back Pape Souare says that he signed a new contract with the Eagles because he is enjoying life at Selhurst Park and because he thinks it’s only a matter of time before the club are competing in European football.

Souare’s new deal will keep him at the South London club until the summer of 2019, and speaking to Richard Cawley of the SLPress, he explained why he put pen to paper on his extension.

I just think the club will go up and players will have the chance to play in the Champions League or Europa League. I’m very happy to be at this club.

The 25-year-old Senegalese international has been a key member of Alan Pardew’s side this season, featuring in 24 games in all competitions, and he’s seemingly nailed down the left-back spot after his arrival from Lille in last year’s January transfer window.

As well as predicting European football for Palace in the near-future, Souare also spoke about how he’s adapted to the Premier League and why he thinks he’s had the instant success, whereas other foreign players sometimes struggle to adapt to English football.

I just try to do my best and work hard. This is my second year in the Premier League and I take everything that the manager or players can give me. I love the football in the Premier League – it is very fast and physical. The fans are very loud. All my family, when they come to visit, tell me that they enjoy it as well.
