Puncheon – Sitting with fans was a wonderful experience

Puncheon – Sitting with fans was a wonderful experience

When the Crystal Palace fans made the short trip north to White Hart Lane to play Tottenham, they would not have expected to be in the stands with one of the players they’re used to cheering one. However, that’s exactly what happened with Jason Puncheon, currently out injured, decided to watch the 1-0 victory with the supporters in the away end rather than in with the other club officials.

Speaking on Talksport, Puncheon said that it was the first time he’d watched a game with the fans since he was ten-years-old and said his auntie was the deciding factor in him choosing to do so.

She goes to all of the away games in-and-around London and he decided to join her to watch his teammates defeat Spurs and set up a quarter-final clash with Reading.

When asked what it was like being with the fans and if he’d consider watching future games with them, the midfielder said:

I would do it again, definitely. I really enjoyed it from the moment I walked in there to the moment I left. I was going mad [when the goal went in], as soon as we scored you just felt the place erupt. Palace fans can carry you through a game as a player, so I just thought I wanted to experience that myself to see what it was like. It was a wonderful experience, it was great.
