Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Newcastle United are all interested in signing Ajax defender Mitchell Dijks, according to a report by Darren Lewis of The Mirror.

The 23-year-old left-back is highly rated in the Netherlands and has created six goals in 24 games in the Eredivisie this season.

According to the report by Lewis, Newcastle are made an enquiry for Dijks in January but Ajax were quick to tell the Magpies that he wasn’t for sale, although that has apparently not put the North East side off and they intend to go back in for him in the summer if they manage to stay in the Premier League.

Dijks has been a mainstay in the Ajax team this season and they’ll be keen to keep him in Amsterdam, but they do have a history of selling players for the right price.

Standing at 6’4″, Dijks would bring height to any team and his ability to fill in at centre-back would also provide versatility to Alan Pardew if he does decide to bring him to Selhurst Park.
