According to the Mirror, Crystal Palace is targeting West Ham United centre-back James Tomkins. In addition, the report suggests that Palace is set to fight Sunderland for the signature of the 27-year-old defender.

With West Ham unhappy at missing out on the FA Cup and a Champions League spot, it has been suggested that the Hammers are set to shake up the squad in the summer, meaning Tomkins could be on his way out.

The 27-year-old has played a major part in West Ham’s 2015/16 Premier League campaign, appearing in a total of 25 appearances. However, with fellow defenders such as James Collins, Winston Reid, and Angelo Ogbonna playing at top form, Tomkins could see himself relegated to the bench if the Hammers decide to bring in defensive support during the summer.

Crystal Palace has long been looking for a defensive replacement for aging centre-back Damien Delaney. With Pardew set to stay at Crystal Palace following the FA Cup Final, the English manager may look to sign the Premier League veteran.
