Alan Pardew has released a statement on the club’s website today thanking the fans for their support of the team on Saturday.
Speaking on the club’s website, he apologised to the supporters for not bringing the FA Cup back to South London.

From the moment our players walked out to inspect the pitch, to the final whistle in extra time, your support was everything we could have wished for.
Despite the 1-0 loss to Manchester United in the clubs first final at Wembley since the Championship play-offs in 2013, the manager thanked the fans for the vocal atmosphere provided inside Wembley.
On behalf of my backroom staff and the players I just want to tell you how much we appreciated it. The feedback has been so positive, and will only make us more determined moving forward to try and bring some silverware back to Selhurst Park.
Saturday was the second time the club has featured in an FA Cup final, with Pardew playing in the club’s first Cup Final in 1990 also against Manchester United.
