Aston Villa have reported to be monitoring Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle after he wants more first-team action, according to the Birmingham Mail.
The recently relegated Premier League club is lacking fire power when it comes to goalscoring strikers with Jordan Ayew an obvious target for Premier League clubs and overseas. The paper has said that Di Matteo wants at least one more forward added to the club before the end of the transfer window.
Gayle struggled to forge a first team place in the side last season only making 16 league appearances in the 2015-16 campaign. The Birmingham Mail have reported that the striker is wanted by incoming manager Roberto Di Matteo just twelve months after Tim Sherwood was reported to be interested in the striker.

The 25-year-old joined Crystal Palace in 2013 after impressing at Peterborough United. He impressed in the second-tier of English football which is something that Villa will certainly be taking into account.

The midlands club are also rumoured to be considering a move for Patrick Bamford. The Chelsea forward will be looking to make a mark once more after failing to impress on loan spells at Norwich and Palace last season.
