With Adrian Mariappa, Brede Hangeland, and Paddy McCarthy released by Palace this summer, it is clear that they intend to free up some space in order to bring in fresh faces.
Crystal Palace conceded 49 goals in 38 games in Premier League, mainly due to their leaky defence, careless defending, blunders and inconsistent performances which saw them finish 15th.
Although Damien Delaney has signed a new contract to remain at Selhurst Park until 2017, there is also a risk of losing their key figure in defence, Scott Dann, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea and Everton.
Crystal Palace also have younger alternatives in the team. Players like Jerome Binnom-Williams, Luke Croll, Ryan Inniss are young players with good potential, though they might be lacking experience, but there should be no harm in giving them some game time.
Although Alan Pardew said that he is not willing to ‘splash the cash’ in this summer transfer window, some defenders are already linked with the South London club.
